I escape to Scotland for a month, thinking it’ll be the break I need to reset my life. But then they show up in the same small Scottish town.

I need to stay calm. My ex-husband and I need to co-parent our soccer star teenager, who is the whole reason I’m even here. And my former best friend is another story altogether. I don’t wish them ill will, I just don’t want to see their traitorous faces any more than I must.

But now, my daughter’s gorgeous (younger) Scottish soccer coach is suggesting we fake date for the summer. It’s the perfect way to avoid my least favorite couple.

The main rule to our fake dating: no falling in love.

And at the end of the summer, I go back to New Jersey, he stays in Scotland. But then he kisses me in the dark nook of an ancient abbey (for my ex to see, of course)…
